LOS ANGELES, CA. – Today, Angel City Football Club (ACFC) announced the current status of the team roster leading into the waiver period and the 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft.
Angel City FC’s current roster features the following players (in alphabetical order by last name):
Goalkeepers: Angelina Anderson, DiDi Haračić
Defenders: Vanessa Gilles (ON LOAN),Merritt Mathias,Lily Nabet,Paige Nielsen, Megan Reid, Ali Riley, Jasmyne Spencer, M.A. Vignola
Midfielders: Claire Emslie, Jun Endo (INTL-JPN), Amandine Henry (INTL-FRA), Clarisse Le Bihan (INTL-FRA)
Forwards: Scarlett Camberos, Katie Johnson, Sydney Leroux, Christen Press, Alyssa Thompson
ACFC’s roster features the 2023 No. 1 overall 2023 NWSL Draft pick and youngest player to be drafted in NWSL history, forward Alyssa Thompson, who appeared in 23 total matches, earning four goals and two assists. Veteran defender Merritt Mathias will make her return to the active roster after a knee injury sidelined her for the entirety of the 2023 season.
Forward Sydney Leroux also headlines the current roster, after recently extending her contract with the club through December 2024, currently sitting at 41 career goals, making her tied for 11th place on the NWSL all-time scoring list.
Goalkeepers Angelina Anderson and DiDi Haračić are set to return, as well as forwards Scarlett Camberos and Katie Johnson, who made their debut with ACFC in 2023.
Rookies Kelsey Hill and Mackenzie Pluck contracts have not been renewed.
Players whose contracts ACFC plans to execute include Lily Nabet, Megan Reid, and Clarisse Le Bihan. Free agents (restricted or unrestricted) whose contracts ACFC plan to execute include Savannah McCaskill, Sarah Gorden, Elizabeth Eddy, Madison Hammond, Simone Charley, Brittany Isenhour, and Dani Weatherholt. The club also plans to exercise Jun Endo’s one-year option.
Vanessa Gilles plans to rejoin the club once she has completed her time on loan with Lyon.
The 2024 NWSL Expansion draft is set for December 15, 2023 on CBS Sports Network.
