No. 23 USC Women’s Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw with No. 4 Stanford

LOS ANGELES – The No. 23 USC women’s soccer team played to a scoreless draw against No. 4 Stanford at McAlister Field on Thursday afternoon.
 
The Trojans had the edge in possession and shots, but neither team was able to break through as USC moves to 9-3-3 overall and 5-1-3 in Pac-12 play. Stanford moves to 14-0-3, 7-0-2.
 
The Trojans held Stanford to a season-low seven shots on the day and none on target, shutting out the Cardinal for the first time this season. It was the eighth shutout of the season for the USC defense.
 
The Trojans got off 16 shots in the game, producing their best chances in the second half. USC came out and dominated possession early in the second half, producing a pair of chances in the 62nd and 63rd minute that nearly broke the scoreless tie.
 
Five of USC’s 16 shots were on target, with four coming in the second half. Simone Jackson led all players with four shots and three on target.
 
UP NEXT
The Trojans play their final regular season home game on Sunday as the Cal Golden Bears come to town. That game will be broadcast at 12 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.
