Liverpool are ready to move for Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay who his manager has admitted will be difficult to retain this summer.
Liverpool’s right-back position is locked up for the foreseeable future with Trent Alexander-Arnold. At 23, the boyhood Red is likely to remain at Anfield for the long haul, though that makes signing adequate back-up tough.
Jurgen Klopp’s current options when Alexander-Arnold misses out are Joe Gomez, James Milner and Neco Williams, who was loaned out to Fulham in January.
Williams is the most obvious like-for-like replacement with the Welshman favouring the attacking side of the game.
However, talk of a permanent switch to Fulham has emerged and their promotion to the top flight ensures they’ll have money to spend.
Gomez too has been linked with a move away after struggling to garner minutes at his regular position of centre-half. Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa continue to be touted across the media, while Fulham also cannot be discounted.
As such, Liverpool have been regularly mentioned alongside a swoop for Aberdeen youngster, Calvin Ramsay.
Despite being just 18-years-old, Ramsay has been a regular fixture at Pittodrie this season.
Indeed, Ramsay has started 18 SPL matches this year and has racked up impressive offensive numbers across all competitions.
While his goals tally stands at just one, his assists return is a rather more eye-catching nine.

Klopp has reportedly already identified Ramsay as the perfect understudy to Alexander-Arnold. However, he is not alone in his admiration.
