Adrian Heath labels mistakes "criminal" after 3-0 defeat at Sporting KC

Minnesota United head coach Adrian Heath was disappointed with his side’s performance in the 3-0 loss as Sporting Kansas City, adding his side made only ” poor decisions with the ball.”

Children’s Mercy Park has become the place of nightmares for Minnesota United. Saturday night’s defeat at Sporting Kansas was the eight straight time that the Loons have lost at Sporting in the regular season, adding to their six game winless streak in league play.

The only time Minnesota has won at Children’s Mercy Park was during the 2020 MLS Cup playoffs.

Furthermore, Minnesota has a -20 goal difference when playing at Kansas City. Is there even a rivalry between the two sides? However, Adrian Heath thought that Kansas City didn’t earn the three points but that his side gave them the win.

“Every opportunity that they got this evening was with us giving the ball in bad areas and making poor decisions with the ball,” he said.

The opening goal came from Minnesota failing to mark Daniel Rosero, who had a free header on goal: “For them to have a free header in the middle of the goal is criminal, really. Traditionally they’ve (Sporting KC) been very good here at home. Tonight I don’t think they had to be really, really good to beat us.”

Minnesota have missed their playmaker Emanuel Reynoso this season, as the Argentina international currently faces a league suspension for failing to showing up for preseason. Now, Heath doesn’t know when he will be back but he knows his importance to the squad.

“At this moment, Rey is still suspended by the league… I don’t know when that will be cleared, and then it’s a case of, you know, how long is it gonna take him to get up to speed, to play a game? We hope that will be sooner rather than later.”

Minnesota United are currently in 9th place in the Western Conference standings with 12 points, and will look to get back on track against the Houston Dynamo Saturday night.
