Arteta’s ‘galactico signing’ decides against Arsenal, Man Utd move despite Barcelona ‘green light’

Barcelona forward Ansu Fati has decided not to pursue a move to the Premier League this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Fati’s future in Catalonia has been cast in doubt due to a lack of game time this season.

The 20-year-old has only started 13 games across all competitions for the Blaugrana this season, coming off the bench on 28 occasions.

This is not enough game time for a player of Fati’s ability and potential, and the forward’s father recently slammed Barcelona boss Xavi for not starting his son often enough.

“Ansu does not want to leave Barcelona but I want to see him succeed,” Bori Fati told a Spanish radio station last month.

“I won’t go to the stadium anymore, I’m very angry with the club. In a month we will meet with Jorge Mendes, for sure.

“I don’t know why Xavi does not play Ansu. Ansu is not disgusted with him as Xavi was always his idol. But me… I am very angry as a father.”

With the relationship between Fati and Barcelona on the rocks, there has been plenty of interest growing ahead of the summer transfer window.

Premier League clubs Man Utd, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been linked with the Spanish international in recent weeks.

A recent report from Spanish newspaper Sport stated that Gunners manager Mikel Arteta ‘dreams’ of making the signing and sees Fati as the ‘galactico’ his team needs.

There is always a chance a Barcelona player can be signed given their financial situation. It will be an interesting summer with the club desperate to balance the books.

Saying that, it seems that Fati will not be one of the players sacrificed to raise funds.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the young forward ‘wants to stay at Barcelona’.

Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes has already sounded out potential destinations, speaking to Bayern Munich, Man Utd and Tottenham.

However, Fati and his father have told Mendes that he only sees himself playing for the La Liga giants.

Barcelona had actually given Mendes the ‘green light’ to find Fati a new club, so they are clearly open to the sale.

Fati has ‘welcomed’ the interest from such big European clubs but has made it his priority to continue wearing the No. 10 shirt at the Camp Nou.

The 20-year-old has actually started both of Barca’s La Liga games since his father complained about Xavi.

He scored in the 4-0 win at Elche before drawing a blank in his side’s goalless draw at home to Girona.
