Hayward, Nytes Called up for USWYNT Camps

CHICAGO – Colorado Juliauna Hayward and Jordan Nytes were two of 46 players selected for call-ups to the overlapping U.S. U-18/U-19 and U-20 Women’s Youth National Team training camps on Monday.
 
Hayward, a rising sophomore, will participate in the combined U-18/U-19 camp from April 12-19, while Nytes, also a rising sophomore, will be at the U-20 camp from April 15-22. Both camps will be held across WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., the University of North Carolina and Duke University.
 
“This camp is a great opportunity for Juliauna and Jordan to reestablish themselves in the National Team program,” head coach Danny Sanchez noted. “They both had fantastic freshmen seasons and have earned this call-up. We are excited to have them represent Colorado soccer on this stage.”
 
Hayward, a 2022 Pac-12 All-Freshman selection, recorded eight points (2 G, 4 A) in 14 games last season for CU. The Broomfield, Colo., native, was also a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Pacific Region honoree in her rookie season. Hayward scored in her collegiate debut against Weber State and had a tally for the Buffs against Arizona State. She missed the final six matches of the year due to an injury.
 
Nytes, who transferred from Oklahoma State at the start of the semester, was the Co-Big Eight Goalkeeper of the Year for the Cowgirls. The Grandview H.S. graduate started all 17 matches she appeared in last season and played 1,475 minutes in net for the Cowgirls. Nytes authored six solo shutouts and was a part of three others. Her six shutouts tied for the eighth most in OSU history. She boasted a Big-12 best .841 save%, allowing just 11 goals against and making 58 saves. Nytes wrapped up the season with a 0.96 goals-against average.  
 
During the four-day overlap between the camps, the teams will scrimmage against each other while U.S. U-20 Women’s Youth National Team head coach Tracey Kevins will evaluate all 46 players in preparation for choosing a 21-player roster that will compete in the 2023 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship which will be held from May 25-June 4 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Carrie Kveton will be the head coach for the U-19/U-18 camp while Kevins will run the U-20 camp.
