Men’s Soccer Announces 2023 Spring Exhibition Schedule

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse’s men’s soccer is set to play five exhibition matches in its 2023 spring schedule. The Orange take on three NCAA Division I teams along with contests against professional clubs Hamilton Forge FC and Toronto FC.

The spring season begins Friday, Feb. 24 against Marist at Afrims Sports Park in Albany, N.Y. The Orange then travel to Canada for their exhibitions against Canadian Premier League club Hamilton Forge FC on Saturday, March 4th and Major League Soccer outfit Toronto FC on Saturday, March 11^th. Syracuse heads to Villanova before hosting Cornell at the SU Soccer Stadium on Saturday, April 15^th at 1 p.m.

Marist finished the 2022 campaign with a 7-6-4 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Orange and Red Foxes faced off in a exhibition match before the 2022 season, with ‘Cuse winning, 6-0.

A former BIG EAST rival, Villanova went 6-8-3 last season, scoring 24 goals and allowing 20. The two program’s last met in an exhibition match prior to the 2022 season, with Villanova taking the win, 2-1.

Cornell and Syracuse played each other twice last season, as the Orange went 1-1 against the Big Red in 2022. The two teams first met on Tuesday, Oct. 4, as Cornell beat Syracuse, 2-1, with goals off a penalty and a Orange own goal. The rematch arrived in the NCAA Championship Third Round, as an 84^th minute goal from Giona Leibold sent the Orange to the NCAA Championship Quarterfinals in a 1-0 win.

Syracuse is coming off the best season in program history, winning the school’s first NCAA National Championship and a program-record 19 matches. The Orange are also the fourth team in Atlantic Coast Conference history to win the national title, ACC tournament championship and regular season division title in the same season.
