Max Allegri comments on Weston McKennie's move to Leeds United

Juventus manager Max Allegri stated that Weston McKennie ‘wanted to leave’ the club during the January transfer window.

McKennie completed a loan move to Leeds United late in the window – a deal which includes an option for the Whites to sign the player permanently in the summer – having failed to impress at Juve in recent seasons.

Speaking ahead Juve’s Coppa Italia quarter-final clash with Lazio on Thursday, Allegri commented on the midfielder’s exits, stating: “Juventus’ transfer window was good. McKennie wanted to leave and he’s found a good option.”

Allegri also took the time to discuss La Vecchia Signora’s disastrous defeat to Monza on Sunday, and gave some team news ahead of Thursday’s clash: “Last Sunday against Monza the whole team put on a bad performance. I made three changes at half-time and we improved slightly.

“We must remain concentrated, however, because the 15-point deduction must not become an alibi, the club will take care of defending itself against the charges.

Apart from [Leonardo] Bonucci, the only player not available is [Paul] Pogba, who is suffering from some tightness in his flexors. It’ll take a little patience, he needs to reset the motor, it’ll take time. The same thing happened to [Federico] Chiesa. [Dušan] Vlahović should play from the start. As for [Juan] Cuadrado? He’s fine.”
