Women’s Soccer | November 16, 2022

LOS ANGELES — The College Sports Communicators released its Academic All-District teams this week and USC women’s soccer standouts Simi Awujo and Simone Jackson both earned the honor.

Academic All-District honorees are student-athletes who maintain a 3.50 GPA or better and are a starter or important reserve with significant athletic credentials. All honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.

Awujo is a neuroscience major currently maintaining a 3.78 GPA. The sophomore midfielder was named to the All-Pac-12 first team this season after scoring two goals and notching four assists in 11 games and 10 starts.

Jackson owns a 3.52 GPA and is majoring in business of cinematic arts with a minor in screenwriting and comedy. Another sophomore standout, Jackson was also named to the All-Pac-12 first team after finishing second on the team with 15 total points (six goals, three assists).

This is the third time that USC has had multiple players named to the Academic All-District team and the first time since 2020 that the Trojans have had a player on the list. Only two USC players have ever earned Academic All-American honors, with Penelope Hocking last doing so in 2020.
