Academic Records Continue To Be Set By Maryland Student-Athletes In Fall 2024 Semester

COLLEGE PARK, MD – University of Maryland Athletics programs once again performed at record-setting levels in the classroom as the Fall 2024 semester was another banner term for the Terps. Maryland set a school record for highest departmental cumulative GPA following a semester with 3.295 with all of Maryland’s teams combining for a 3.337 semester GPA. This marks the 10th semester in a row with a GPA of better than 3.000. The strong academic performance marks the 17th consecutive semester with a better than 3.000 cumulative GPA. A total of 17 Maryland programs have a cumulative GPA of better than a 3.000 and 17 of them had better than a 3.000 for the Spring 2024 semester.

It was a standout semester as 26 student-athletes posted a perfect 4.000 GPA and 177 earned Dean’s List recognition, boasting a 3.500 GPA or better. Overall, 348 student-athletes achieved Athletic Honor Roll status for posting a 3.000 or better GPA.

“Yet again, our Terps continue to stand out on and off the field as shown by a record-setting Fall 2024 semester in the classroom,” said Damon Evans, Barry P. Gossett Director of Athletics. “I am so proud of our student-athletes performing at such a high level in their academics. We continue to be inspired by their dedication to their studies while competing with their athletic programs. Our GSAC staff is to be celebrated as well for their commitment to education and fostering the consummate student experience. This is a time to celebrate our student-athletes, we are so proud of them.”

We remain deeply grateful for the collaboration with academic units across campus and faculty who work to ensure student-athletes can compete at a high level athletically and succeed in the classroom. GSAC tutorial services and learning support services continue to provide comprehensive support to assist students in balancing athletics competition while earning impressive academic marks; in fact many staff traveled with teams to provide support on the road fall term. The impressive academic performances continue to inspire and fill our GSAC team with Maryland Pride.”
