STANFORD, Calif. – Establishing themselves as two of the top players in the nation while leading Stanford to the 2024 College Cup, midfielders Mia Bhuta and Charlotte Kohler earned spots on TopDrawerSoccer’s Best XI teams.
Bhuta was named to the Best XI second team while Kohler landed on the Freshman Best XI first team. Bhuta had previously earned a spot on the Freshman Best XI second team a year ago.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Bhuta was one of three Stanford players, including one of two field players, to start all 23 matches this year for the Cardinal. She scored three goals and assisted on two more for eight points while logging 1,849 minutes in Stanford’s midfield. The No. 14 player on TopDrawerSoccer’s Postseason Top 100 players list, Bhuta landed on the United Soccer Coaches All-America fourth team, was named first-team All-Region and was named All-ACC second team following the conclusion of the regular season.
Kohler started 22 of the 23 matches for the Cardinal this year, scoring five goals and assisting on four more to finish with 14 total points. The native of Woodside, Calif. managed a goal and an assist in her first NCAA Tournament match vs. UCSB on November 15 and scored two goals with one assist in postseason play. The No. 9 player on TopDrawerSoccer’s Midseason Top 100 Freshmen list, Kohler contributed two game-winning goals, including entering as a reserve to score the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over San Francisco in Stanford’s season opener.
