NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Caroline Betts was honored by the College of Sports Communicators on Wednesday morning, earning second-team Academic All-America accolades.
A double major in medicine, health, and society along with psychology, Betts will receive her undergraduate degree in May just three years after arriving on campus. While recording a 3.92 GPA, Betts was also pivotal in the Commodores’ success on the field. She posted a team-high and career-best 23 points off nine goals and five assists, helping lift Vandy to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.
The Dores made their 13th appearance in postseason play scoring eight goals, four of which either were scored by or assisted by Betts. The Nashville, Tennessee, native scored two goals against top-seeded Florida State and netted Vanderbilt’s only goal in the following match against Penn State.
Betts becomes the program’s third recipient of CSC All-America honors and the first since 2016 when Kacy Scarpa landed on the third team. Molly Kinsella was the first Commodore to receive the honor after earning first-team recognition in 2010.
