Huskies’ Season Comes To A Close


DALLAS – Washington men’s soccer dropped its second round match to 12-seed SMU on Sunday night, falling 2-1 at Washburne Stadium.
 
UW concluded the season with an overall record of 8-6-7 and finished fourth in its first season in the Big Ten Conference with a record of 4-3-3.
 
Rhys Gourdie led the offensive attack for UW with three shots, one on goal.
 
The Huskies broke through for the opening score in the 30th minute on Joe Dale’s first career postseason goal. Peter Kingston’s pass to Chris Meyers outside the box found Dale who sunk his second of the season.
 
SMU equalized in the 40th minute on Stephan Soghomonian’s goal.
 
The Mustangs forced a corner kick in the 89th minute and found the back of the net.
 
Washington would not go away, forcing a pair of shots in the final seconds but could not find an equalizer of its own.
