Real Madrid ‘considering January move for Trent Alexander-Arnold amid injury crisis’ – as Spanish giants view Liverpool star’s arrival a ‘sure thing’

Real Madrid are reportedly considering making a January approach to Liverpool for Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the club convinced the full back is set to move to the Spanish capital.

Alexander-Arnold is in the final year of his Liverpool contract and will be able to negotiate with foreign clubs from the start of January.

Recent reports have claimed Liverpool’s contract talks with the academy product have stalled. 

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Real Madrid are said to view Alexander-Arnold as a ‘sure thing in the summer’ when his contract expires.

The Spanish giants, however, are claimed to have held meetings about bringing a potential move for Alexander-Arnold forward to January.

The report claims Real Madrid could look to enter negotiations with Liverpool to secure Alexander-Arnold’s signature earlier, as the club look to resolve their injury crisis.

Right back Dani Carvajal, who came fourth in the Ballon d’Or vote, will miss the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury suffered in October.

Real Madrid were hit by a further blow with Eder Militao suffering a season-ending ACL injury last weekend, while David Alaba is not expected to return until the New Year following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

RB Leipzig’s Castello Lukeba and Ajax’s Jorrel Hato are reportedly viewed as long-term targets to resolve Real Madrid’s centre back problem.

Former Man City defender Aymeric Laporte, who now plays for Saudi side Al-Nassr, is considered as another possible January target.
