Arizona Falls in First Round of Big 12 Championship to Baylor

Big 12 Soccer Championship - First Round

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The seventh-seeded Arizona Wildcats lost 2-1 to the tenth-seeded Baylor Bears in the first round of the Big 12 Championship in Kansas City on Wednesday afternoon.  

Baylor scored in the 10th minute to take a 1-0 lead. In the 24th minute, Narissa Fults broke through the Baylor defense to score the equalizer. Arizona’s offense tallied seven shots in the first half and the defense held the Bears to four shots.

 

In the second half, Arizona out-shot Baylor again with five shots, but the Bears broke the tie with a goal in the 76th minute. The Cats had five shots in the second half but Baylor’s goalkeeper saved two. 

 

The Cats totaled 12 shots – five of which were on target. Goalkeeper Olivia Ramey saved two shots in the match.

 

The Wildcats will await their fate for the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is scheduled for Monday, November 11.
