COLLEGE PARK, MD — Each week during the 2024-25 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.
This week’s Terp of the Week is Katie Coyle from women’s soccer
Coyle played a huge role in Maryland’s 2-0 win over Nebraska on Sunday, finishing the match with a goal and an assist. Coyle delivered a ball into the Cornhuskers’ penalty area, setting up the first goal for the Terps in the match. The goal was the first for the Terps against a Big Ten opponent since an Oct. 2022 match against Purdue. Coyle added an insurance goal for the Terps in the 77th minute, finishing a chance in front of the net to double the Terps advantage. The victory marked the first win for the Terps against a Big Ten opponent since 2022 and was also the first win for the Terps in program history against Nebraska.
Coyle has two goals on the season, while scoring six in her career. The assist was also her first in a Maryland uniform. In her two seasons with the Terps, Coyle has played in 30 matches and made 28 starts in the backline.
The Terps finish the regular season with three road contests in the Big Ten. They return to action on Oct. 17, as they travel to face Minnesota. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET and will broadcast in B1G+.
