Soccer Travels to No. 4 Mississippi State

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri soccer travels to face No. 4 Mississippi State at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. The game will be available to be streamed live on SECN+.

Missouri (4-7-2, 2-3-1 SEC) enters the contest following a 5-0 route of Ole Miss on Thursday.

The result was Mizzou’s largest win over an SEC opponent since it beat the Rebels by the same scoreline on Sept. 9, 2016.

Senior midfielder Milena Fischer scored three goals to lead Mizzou to victory. The hat trick was the second in program history and the first by a Tiger since Grace Blum on Oct. 19, 1996, against Nebraska.

Fischer now leads Missouri with six goals on the season.

Junior midfielder Jess Larson and freshman forward Emily Derucki added the two additional goals against Ole Miss.

Derucki’s goal against the Rebels was the first of the career for the freshman.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Phillips is poised to make her sixth consecutive start and seventh appearance on the season.

Phillips made nine saves in the shutout victory over Florida, marking the most by a Tigers’ keeper in a win since Oct. 26, 2017.

Freshman midfielder Landis Canada has started every game this season while freshman defender Callaway Combs has started the last three matches for Mizzou, the first starts of her career.

Missouri is currently in 10th place in the SEC standings, trailing Tennessee and Georgia by one point.

Mississippi State (11-1-0, 5-0-0 SEC) is coming off a 2-1 win vs Georgia on Thursday after defeating then No. 1 Arkansas on Oct. 4.

Junior midfielder Zakirah McGillivary headlines the Bulldogs roster with eight goals this season while senior midfielder MaKayla Waldner has tallied seven.

The Bulldogs are coached by James Armstrong who is in his sixth season at the helm with a 54-33-18 record.

Armstrong has led the program to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances each of the last two seasons.

The contest will mark the 10th meeting between the programs with Mizzou leading the all-time series 4-3-3. The Bulldogs lead 2-2-1 when hosting the match.
