No. 16 Duke Welcomes Wake Forest to Koskinen Stadium Saturday

DURHAM, N.C. – No. 16 Duke men’s soccer (5-2-3, 2-1-2 ACC) hosts Wake Forest (5-3-4, 2-1-1 ACC) for an ACC tilt Saturday evening at Koskinen Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ACCNX.
 
Parking for Saturday’s contest will be located in the Science Drive Garage, opening two hours before the match.
 
MATCHUP NOTES

• Duke and Wake Forest meet for the 50th time in program history on Saturday, with Duke leading the all-time tally 24-17-8. The Blue Devils are currently riding a two-match winning streak in the series, defeating the Demon Deacons, 3-2, in Winston-Salem in 2022. 
• The two sides first met in 1980, when the Blue Devils defeated Wake Forest, 5-2 on a neutral field. 

 
BY THE NUMBERS
14 – Goals scored against Averett at Koskinen Stadium tied a program record for most goals scored in a single contest.
10 – Duke has won 10-plus contests in 10 of the 16 completed seasons under Kerr.
7 – Seven different Blue Devils registered their first career goals in 2024, including five against Averett.

FIRST TOUCH

• Duke men’s soccer improved to 4-0-2 on the road this season, downing Elon at Rudd Field on Tuesday evening. The Phoenix opened the scoring late in the first half after being awarded a free kick, which Ryan Manna headed past Wessel Speel in the 41st minute. Minutes into the second half, Duke showed why they are outscoring their opponents 20-9 in the second half this season, as Drew Kerr and Ulfur Bjornsson assisted Adam Luckhurst‘s ninth goal of the season, tallying his fifth-straight contest registering a goal. The equalizer came in the 47th minute, knotting the match at one. In the 54th minute, Bjornsson snapped a two-match scoreless streak, finding the back of the net for his eighth goal of the season and securing the Duke victory, 2-1.
• With six matches remaining on the schedule, Duke will host five of those six contests, traveling to Blacksburg, Virginia on October 25, as the lone road trip remaining.
