Bradley Earns 2nd Big Ten Women's Soccer Freshman of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Shaela Bradley of Rutgers women’s soccer has earned her second Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor of her rookie season, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

The Scarlet Knights have now earned three consecutive Freshman of the Week accolades from the Big Ten – Bradley’s on Sept. 24, Gabriela Gil on Oct. 1, and now Bradley’s today. This now marks the third season Rutgers has had at least three Freshman of the Week awards during a single campaign, joining 2021’s four and 2017’s three.

Bradley’s third career goal came in the 47th minute at No. 19 Penn State to equalize the contest that ended in a 1-1 draw, Rutgers second consecutive tie on the road against a nationally ranked opponent. The rookie from La Center, Washington collected the ball outside the box in early in the second half and after a few dribbles around defenders, her hard and low show took a deflection and found the back of the net to draw the score even at 1-1.

Bradley played 83 minutes in the draw against the No. 6 RPI ranked team at Penn State. The Scarlet Knights, with Bradley starting all 12 matches this season as a true freshman, have earned draws against the No. 2, 4, and 6 ranked RPI teams as of Oct. 6 (Wake Forest, Michigan State, and Penn State).

Bradley ranks third on the Scarlet Knights with nine points on three goals and three assists.

Bradley and the Scarlet Knights are back at home Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. against Nebraska at Yurcak Field and live on national television on Big Ten Network.
