NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt soccer tallied its fifth draw of the season in a 1-1 decision to No. 24/21 South Carolina on Friday night at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex. Katie Shea scored an equalizer in the 90th minute for the Gamecocks.

Vanderbilt (5-2-5, 0-2-3) took 11 shots in the match, four on target. In the opening minutes, Sydney Watts registered her sixth goal of the season off a cross from Rachel Deresky.

Goalkeeper Kate Devine made five saves in the match, the most in a single game this season.

South Carolina (5-2-4, 2-2-1) earned nine corner kicks in the match, the second most by an opponent this season. The Gamecocks took 14 shots, five on target. South Carolina had a free-kick opportunity that hit the crossbar. On the next possession, Shea dribbled inside the box and shot it. Devine deflected the shot but it drifted over the line off the rebound.

Vandy hits the road on Thursday, visiting Texas A&M. The match will begin at 7 p.m and will be shown on SEC Network+.
