Liverpool ‘eye Mo Salah replacement’ as the Egyptian winger moves into the final months of his Anfield contract, with the Reds ‘willing to pay £42m to sign the Champions League finalist’

Mo Salah could leave Liverpool next summer when his Anfield contract is due to expire

Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing a Champions League finalist to potentially replace Mo Salah.

Salah’s contract is due to expire next summer, and he hinted last month that this is likely to be his final season at Anfield.

The Reds could be set to lose their talisman in the coming months, and will need to find a suitable successor if Salah does opt to move on.

According to Bild, Liverpool are now targeting Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi following his flying start to the season.

The report states that Liverpool would be willing to pay €50m (£42m) to land Adeyemi.

Adeyemi, 22, signed for Dortmund two years ago, and has a contract with the club until 2027.

The German international netted a hat-trick in Dortmund’s 7-1 thrashing of Celtic on Tuesday night, but was taken off shortly after half time with a thigh injury.

He is still waiting to learn the full extent of the injury, but will hope it is not a major setback after finding form in the opening weeks of the campaign.

Liverpool’s pursuit could be hampered by Adeyemi’s love for Dortmund, as he admitted to Bild: ‘I feel great here in Dortmund. I was already a big fan as a little boy!’

But a switch to Liverpool could prove too tempting to turn down. Arne Slot already has an array of attacking talent at his disposal, with Salah leading the way and the likes of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez hot on his heels.
