RB Leipzig vs Juventus: Preview, predictions and lineups

FBL-FRIENDLY-LEIPZIG-PSG

Thiago Motta’s Juventus will be hoping to build upon their impressive Gameweek 1 win over PSV Eindhoven when they travel to take on Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

Juve have impressed in the early weeks of Motta’s tenure at the club, remaining unbeaten in Serie A and not conceding a single domestic goal. Their best performance thus far in 2024/25 undoubtedly came in the Champions League, where they confidently swept aside an in-form PSV 3-1 at the Allianz Stadium.

Next up is a trip to the Red Bull Arena to face off against a talented RB Leipzig side. Marco Rose’s men have shown good form in the Bundesliga, currently sitting third in the league, but were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Atletico Madrid in their Champions League opener.

Here is 90min’s guide to RB Leipzig vs Juventus in the Champions League.

Wednesday’s game is set to come a bit too soon for Assan Ouedraogo and Kevin Kampl, who are both expected to return from injury in mid-October, while fellow midfielder Xaver Schlager will remain on the sidelines until January with an ACL injury.

In better news, ex-Napoli man Elijf Elmas looks set to recover in time from a knock to feature in the game – though he’s unlikely to start.

RB Leipzig predicted lineup vs Juventus (4-4-2): Gulacsi; Geertruida, Orban, Lukeba, Raum; Baumgartner, Haidara, Vermeeren, Simons; Sesko, Openda.

Long-term absentee Arkadiusz Milik is set to remain on the sidelines this midweek, as will Timothy Weah, who is struggling with an ankle injury.

Other than those two absentees, Juve can actually post a full bill of health heading into the game, which will be music to Motta’s ears.

Juventus predicted lineup vs RB Leipzig (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Gatti, Bremer, Cambiaso; Locatelli, Fagioli; Gonzalez, Koopmeiners, Yildiz; Vlahovic.
