Maryland Continues Road Stretch Against No. 7 Ohio State on Friday

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland looks to turn its fortunes around when it heads to Columbus, Ohio on Thursday to play the No. 7 Ohio State Buckeyes at 7 PM at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

The game against Ohio State is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 p.m. on B1G+. The match against Illinois is slated for a 3:00 p.m. ET kickoff and will also be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
 

Series History – Ohio State

  • Maryland is winless against the Buckeyes in 12 all-time meetings. The Buckeyes lead the series 10-0-2, but both ties have come in Columbus.
  • The two schools met once prior to becoming conference foes in 2014. In 2012, the No. 17 Terrapins played at Ohio State on August 26 and dropped a 1-0 contest despite controlling the majority of play and nearly doubling the Buckeyes in shots, 19-10.

Maryland and Ohio State met last season on Sept. 24 in College Park. The Terps and the Buckeyes remained scoreless in a tight defensive battle, until Ohio State scored in the 90th minute.

Ringing the Bell Twice

  • Kennedy Bell’s two-goal performance in the Terps’ 4-0 win over VCU on Sept. 8 was the first time a Terp scored twice in a game since Lisa McIntyre scored twice against James Madison on Aug. 27, 2023.
  • Bell opened the scoring in the 5th minute, finishing a scramble inside the 8-meters. She added her second of the day less than two minutes later on a breakaway off of a beautifully paced through ball from Peyton Bernard.
  • Bell is the first Terp to score twice in the first half of a match since teammate Ava Morales found the net twice in the opening 45 minutes at Purdue on Oct. 23, 2022.
