Men's Soccer Returns Home to Host Syracuse and Vermont


ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany Men’s soccer program (2-7-1, 0-1-0 America East) will get to take on a pair of opponents at home this week kicking of against Syracuse (3-4-3, 0-2-2 ACC), and Vermont (4-1-3, 0-0-1 America East).

 

 
Last Time Out:
The Great Danes are coming off a 2-nil loss against UMass Lowell on Saturday, September 30, and are aiming to have a good week at home with the hope for two home wins against Syracuse and Vermont this week.
 
So far this season UAlbany has scored ten goals in ten matches averaging a goal a game while recording 98 shots, 47 on goal, for an average of 9.8 shots per game and 0.480 shots on goal percentage.
 
Ander Castillo continues to lead the team in goals and shots with four goals, one assist, and 32 shots, 17 of which were on goal for a 0.125 shot percentage, and a 0.531 shots on goal percentage. Leading the team in minutes played is defenseman, Ethan Cook, with ‘855. Right behind both players is midfielder, Timo Jansen. Jansen has played a total of ‘820, and has three goals, two assists, 15 shots, nine of which were on goal for a 0.200 shot percentage, and a 0.600 shots on goal percentage. Parker Kump (0-5-1) leads in minutes for goalkeepers with ‘501:09. In that time, he’s allowed 11 goals off 80 shots. Kump has made 16 saves for a 0.593 save percentage.
 
Looking at Syracuse:
The Orange will enter Tuesday’s match coming off a 2-1 loss against Wake Forest on Friday, September 27th. Syracuse has scored 14 times while surrendering eleven goals to its opponents while taking 173 shots, 71 on goal, for an average of 17.3 shots per game and 0.410 shots on goal percentage. They have received a total of 21 yellow cards and no red cards to this point in the season.
 
Gabe Threadgold leads the team in points with six, having scored 2 goals off 11 shots, nine on goal, for a 0.818 shots-on-goal percentage. Midfielder Sam Layton leads the team of any field player with ‘900 spent on the pitch and has recorded two points from one goal. Nicholas Kaloukian and Chimere Omeze lead in the yellow card count for Syracuse with five yellow cards each.
 
Tomas Hut (3-4-3) has been the team’s predominant keeper in net having started all ten games for the Orange where he’s recorded 28 saves, and ten goals allowed against 100 total shots for a 1.05 goals against average and 0.737 save…
