Soccer Travels to Face Alabama on Thursday


COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri soccer will travel to face Alabama on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT. The match will be available to be streamed live on SECN+.

Missouri (2-6-1, 0-2-0 SEC) is coming off a loss against No. 3 Arkansas on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers received two goals in the contest from senior midfielder Leah Selm and junior forward Kylee Simmons.

The Tigers attacked the Tide throughout with eight shots, including five from Simmons.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Phillips earned her second consecutive start on Sunday and made two saves.

Junior goalkeeper Kassidy Roshong  added two saves in her first appearance as a Tiger on Sunday.

With their respective goals on Sunday, Selm and Simmons join senior midfielder Milena Fischer as Mizzou’s leading scorers this season with two goals each.

Freshman Landis Canada has started every game this season and tallied a goal against Miami on Aug. 29 while freshman Emily Derucki has started three consecutive contests and has totaled 406 minutes on the year.

Alabama (7-2-2, 0-0-2 SEC) enters Thursday after back-to-back draws against Texas and Tennessee.

The Crimson Tide are coached by Wes Hart. Hart is in his 10th season with the program and achieved his 100th career win earlier this season. He has guided the program to four NCAA Tournament appearances including each of the past three seasons.

The Alabama roster is headlined by junior Gianna Paul who has notched eight goals and an assist this season.

Sophomore Nadia Ramadan has added five goals and two assists

Thursday will mark the 10th meeting between the two teams with Alabama holding a 5-4-0 series lead. Alabama won the last meeting 2-1 on October 26, 2023.
