NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Rutgers men’s soccer (3-4-1) tied Yale (0-4-1) on Tuesday night on the road in its final nonconference match of the season.
The teams went into the locker room scoreless although the Scarlet Knights held the clear advantage, leading in both shots (8-2) and shots on goal (5-1).
The Bulldogs stuck first in the second half though, with a goal in the 60th minute to take the lead. However, RU continued to fight and finally Ola Maeland broke through and found the back of the net in the 82nd minute.

- Maeland’s score is his third of the season and the 12th of his career. He ranks second on the team now in both goals (3) and points (7).
- Francesco Di Ponzio earned the first point of his career in his first start with an assist on Maeland’s goal.
- Ian Abbey also assisted on Maeland’s goal and now paces the Scarlet Knights with three helpers. In addition, his five points rank third.
- Ciaran Dalton made two saves against the Bulldogs, bringing his total to 34 stops on the season.
- Rutgers bested Yale in shots (20-6), shots on goal (11-3) and corner kicks (6-4).
