EAST LANSING, Mich. – Washington men’s soccer dropped its Big Ten opener 1-0 at Michigan State on Friday night. The Huskies move to 3-2-2 (0-1-0 B1G) on the season.
After a scoreless first 45, Michigan State (2-3-3, 1-0-0 B1G) broke through in the 62nd minute for the 1-0 advantage.
The Huskies had a chance at an equalizer in the 65th, but Harrison Bertos’ shot was saves by a Spartan defender at the line.
Chad Sovde made his collegiate debut in the 76th.
In the 86th, a MSU handball was called in the box. Peter Kingston’s shot was saved in the bottom left corner.
Up next, UW travels to No. 22 Michigan on Monday. Kickoff from Ann Arbor is set for 4 p.m. PT and airing on Big Ten Network.
