Paul Scholes makes unexpected claim about Liverpool star and Arne Slot

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has claimed that he feels Liverpool manager Arne Slot is not a huge admirer of right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The new Liverpool manager is off to a fine start after taking charge of the club following the departure of Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds have made a perfect start to the new season, with the club winning all three matches so far this season.

Slot’s Liverpool have won three matches without conceding a single goal, with the highlight of their campaign so far being the win against Man United at Old Trafford.

Alexander-Arnold has been a part of all those wins and the England international has played a key role for his club and country so far this season.

Scholes has raised questions about how Slot wants to play football and whether Alexander-Arnold can fit the manager’s philosophy.

While speaking on Stick to Football, he said:

‘Watching that Sunday game, every time he gave the ball away he [Slot] was shaking his head,’ the former Manchester United midfielder said. ‘He kept looking away and turning around to his bench.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has taken off Trent Alexander-Arnold in all the three matches so far this season.

‘He was trying these long balls, which obviously he can do brilliantly. I thought, “I’m not sure if he likes him”.’

The Liverpool defender has been crucial for the Reds this season, starting every game but the manager has taken him off in all the games.

Alexander-Arnold is yet to play the full 90 minutes of a match for the Merseyside club this season.

Liverpool should sort Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, he faces an uncertain future at the club.

There have been suggestions in the media that the Liverpool star is attracting interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Alexander-Arnold is a key member of the Liverpool starting line up and the club should make his contract extension their immediate priority.

He is one of the best players in the world in his position and there is no other right-back who can contribute in attack as much as he does.
