Soccer to Travels East to Face Duke


COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri soccer goes back on the road to match up against Duke at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday. The contest will be available to be streamed live on ACCNX

The Tigers are coming off a commanding 5-0 win over SEMO on Sunday.

Five different Tigers scored in the match, including junior forward Kylee Simmons and senior midfielder Leah Selm who began the offensive clinic with a pair of goals in the first 25 minutes. They co-led the team in shots with six shots each.

Redshirt freshman midfielder Monica Brauner and junior forward Bella Carrillo recorded their first career goals in the 25th and 57th minutes.

Brauner’s goal came 29 seconds after Selm’s, marking Missouri’s fifth fastest time in history between goals.

Sophomore forward Brianna Buels scored her first goal of the season with a penalty kick in the 30th minute after a SEMO handball in the box. This is the fourth goal of her career after tallying three goals in 16 games last season.

Overall, the Tigers’ attack led the Redhawks 26-0 in shots.

Missouri head coach Stefanie Golan played collegiately at Duke appearing in 56 games from 1997-2001 and helped lead the team to four NCAA Tournament appearances.

Golan earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the university in 2001.

Duke is 4-1 on the season and continued their four-game win streak after defeating East Tennessee State 5-0 on Sunday. The Blue Devils ended last season 6-7-3 overall, going 2-5-3 during conference play.

Head coach Robbie Church is in his 24th and final season with the Blue Devils. Church has a record of 297-148-66 during his tenure and has won 126 matches over the past nine seasons.

Church has led the Blue Devils to 20 NCAA Championship appearances, including three trips to the College Cup.

Sophomore defender, Cameron Roller, leads the team with six points while four separate Blue Devils have scored two goals so far this season.

Thursday will be the Tigers’ fourth matchup against Duke in program history and the first meeting between the two teams since 2010.

Missouri is searching for its first win in the series since the inaugural meeting in 1999.
