Kubasik First Impact Program Ready For Year Three

The Kubasik First Impact Program welcomed 17 new second-year student-athletes this summer for its third year of programming.

The program was started through a gift to the Terrapin Club by generous supporters Jane and Chris Kubasik, donors to Maryland Athletics for more than 20 years. It allows second-year student-athletes to better plan and prepare for their futures through unique experiences and skill-building opportunities. The Kubasik First Impact Program explores each individual’s identity, strengths, and interests through hands-on learning and exposure to new careers.

During the first semester, the program will focus on discovery, emphasizing self-identity, personal branding, and exposure to career paths. This will enable students to clarify their career aspirations or understand their options.

The second semester will shift toward action, aiming for students to apply insights from industry professionals, knowledge about workplace environments, and financial planning to identify a career path.

In addition to monthly educational and interactive activities, students will receive a mentor through the Maryland Made Mentor Program and have exposure opportunities through job shadowing, networking events, informational interviews, and more.
