PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Junior forward Allie Post scored her first career brace and the Rutgers women’s soccer defense posted its third consecutive shutout as the Scarlet Knights (4-1-1) defeated NC State (2-3-1) by a 2-0 score on Sunday at Yurcak Field.
Senior Riley Tiernan assisted on both goals, one in each half, to move into second place all-time at Rutgers and one away from tying the school record of 29.
Olivia Bodmer made three saves in her third consecutive shutout, her fourth overall in 2024 and 13th in 26 career games.
With just one minute off the clock at the game’s open, Tiernan possessed the ball near midfield and threaded a long pass through the Wolfpack defense to spring Allie Post, who took a smart touch and launched a shot at the near post past the NC State keeper for the quick 1-0 lead.

In the 68th minute, Post got her brace to provide valuable insurance after Tiernan’s pass found an open Gabriela Gil attacking the NC State box. Her pass sent Post into the box for a one-time shot inside the far post for her first multi-goal game.
“The brace feels really good, but I’m just happy we got the shutout and the win today,” Post said. “It’s really exciting to be a part of it. It’s really good to be going into Big Ten play with three straight wins, so we should be carrying that momentum.”
