Huskies-Redhawks Battle For Fewing Cup


SEATTLE – No. 24 Washington men’s soccer returns home to face cross town rival No. 11 Seattle U on Monday night.
 
Kickoff from Husky Soccer Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. PT and streaming on B1G+.
 
The Huskies come into matchup with a 2-1-2 record and on a four match unbeaten streak. UW entered the Top 25 for the first time this season at No. 24 in the TopDrawerSocceer poll last week and receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Washington extended their unbeaten streak to three following a 2-1 victory at Air Force on Sunday night. Charlie Kosakoff notched his second goal of the season, while freshman Zach Ramsey recorded netted his first career goal.
 
FEWING CUP
The match marks the ninth time the two team will compete for the Fewing Cup (previously known as the WAC/101 Club Cup). The cup is named in honor of Seattle U’s former head coach, Pete Fewing. The Washington Athletic Club sponsors the cup, with the winning team receiving a donation to its soccer program from the Washington Athletic Club. The Huskies lead the Fewing Cup series, 6-2.
 
HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
Since 1997, the Huskies have posted a 183-66-21 overall record at Husky Soccer Stadium, winning at least eight matches in 13 seasons including a 10-1-2 mark in 2013. In 2022, the Huskies set a new program record for single-match attendance when 3,876 people came to see Washington take on Seattle U in the Fewing Cup (formerly WAC/101 Club Cup).
 
ROAD DAWGS
Dating back to the 2019 season, the Huskies are 27-7-9 in road contests. UW went undefeated in road matches twice during that span in 2022 (5-0-2) and 2021 (8-0-1). The Huskies also won eight road matches in 2019.
 
RANKED MATCHUPS
Since the 2019 season, the Huskies are 13-3-5 against ranked opponents in the regular season. Last season, Washington went 3-1-2 against ranked teams and this season is 1-1-1 versus the Top 25. UW went undefeated against ranked opponents in 2022 (2-0-1). In the last seven home matches against Top 5 opponents, the Huskies hold a record of 6-1-0.
 
THE RETURNERS
