Soccer to Host SEMO on Sunday


COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri soccer returns home to face off against SEMO at 7 p.m. CT on Sunday. The contest will be available to be streamed live on SECN+.

The Tigers are coming off a bye week following a loss to Miami on August 29. The Tigers attack led the Hurricanes 12 to six in shots.

Freshman midfielder Landis Canada scored her first career goal in the 69th minute, leading the team with four shots, including two on goal. The goal came on an assist from fellow freshman forward Emily Derucki.

Canada has started in all games for the Tigers this season while Derucki has totaled 226 minutes on the year.

Junior midfielder Keegan Good recorded four shots throughout her 90 minutes on the field against Miami. Senior midfielder Leah Selm registered one shot.

SEMO is 0-3 on the season after falling to Indiana State, Murray State and Southern Illinois. The Redhawks ended last season 7-6-6 overall, going 2-3-4 against conference opponents.

Head coach Heather Nelson is in her 26th season on the sidelines with a 226-159-63 overall record. Nelson was SEMO’s inaugural coach when the program was started in 1999.

Nelson has led the Redhawks to six conference championships in her tenure and has advanced to the Ohio Valley Tournament in 22 of her 25 seasons.

SEMO Senior midfielder, Elizabeth Rater, has scored all two goals for the Redhawks so far this season.

Sunday will be the third consecutive year the two in-state programs will face off as the Tigers won last year’s matchup 4-0 at home. The teams have met a total of five times with Mizzou holding a 3-0-1 advantage in the series.

Admission to all Missouri home games this season is free.
