Maryland Returns Home to Face VCU on Senior Day

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland returns home to close out non conference play as it hosts VCU. The Terrapins will also honor their senior class for Senior Day. The two teams played to a 0-0 draw last season in Richmond.

The game will air on B1G+.

The Terrapins finished its third consecutive road non conference game on Thursday as they drew 1-1 with Towson. Taryn Raibon scored for the second-straight game, giving the Terps the lead in the 22nd minute. The assist came from Kennedy Bell, which was her first assist on the season. The Terps held the lead until the 48th minute, when Towson tied the game at 1-1. Maryland out-shot Towson 11-8 in the game and had four corners to Towson’s one.

Series History – VCU

  • The Terrapins and the Rams are only meeting for the third time in the all-time series. This is the second-straight season the two programs have faced each other, after an over 20 year hiatus between match-ups.
  • In last season’s game, both defenses kept the offenses off the board in a 0-0 draw. The Terps held the shot advantage at 14-10 in the game. The Terps had a couple of crucial chances in the second half in the attacking third, but either couldn’t direct their shots on target or had them batted away by the Rams’ keeper. Liz Beardsley made three saves in the game en route to her second shutout of the season.

Senior Day

  • Maryland’s game against VCU will also serve as the team’s Senior Day. Six senior Terps will be honored: Liz Beardsley, Katie Coyle, Halle Johnson, Kat Parris, Brooke Tracey, and Lauren Wrigley. All six players will be recognized in a pregame ceremony at midfield just before kickoff.
  • All four of Maryland’s captains will be honored on Senior Day. Beardsley, Coyle, Johnson, and Wrigley have been key leaders for the team since they arrived on campus.
