Arizona Caps Off Non-Conference Slate With Win Over Aggies

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Soccer returned to Mulcahy Stadium Thursday evening for their final non-conference game against New Mexico State, taking the win 1-0. 

Marely Chappel scored Arizona’s lone goal in the 19th minute with a set up and assist from Nyota Katembo. The goal marks Chappel’s first goal of the season, and her second career goal. 

The Wildcats out-shot the Aggies 8-3 in the first half, closing out the first 45 minutes up 1-0. 

Arizona was able to hold off the Aggie’s aggressive offense in the second half, only allowing for two shots. In total, the Wildcats out-shot the Aggies 13-5. 

Goalkeeper Olivia Ramey kept a clean sheet and recorded three saves throughout the game. This was Arizona’s fourth shutout of the season.

The Wildcats will begin conference play at Utah next Thursday, September 12 at 6:00 p.m. MST on ESPN+.
