CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After a stellar week on the pitch, Allie George has been named ACC Defensive Player of the Week.

George netted two goals in two games for the Hokies and was instrumental in Tech’s two shutout victories.

She scored the game-winning goal for Tech in its 1-0 victory over Loyola Maryland (Aug. 29). She was also part of a defensive unit that allowed no shots – the first time the Hokies held an opponent to no shots since Sept. 15, 2011.

The Hokies posted their second clean sheet of the weekend on Sunday with their 2-0 win over High Point (Sept. 1). George scored her second goal of the week in the 89th minute to cement Tech’s win over the Panthers.

It is the first time in George’s collegiate career that she has scored in back-to-back games. Her goal against the Greyhounds was also the first game-winning goal of her career.

George is the first Hokie to garner ACC Defensive Player of the Week since Victoria Haugen on Sept. 27, 2022.

The Hokies (5-0-1) return to Thompson Field to host Liberty (6-0) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5.
