A New Era of Gossett Fellows

The University of Maryland Intercollegiate Athletic Department announced the 2026 Barry and Mary Gossett Fellows Program class. The program includes rising sophomores, juniors and senior student-athletes and will focus on developing them for their postgraduate career.

Maryland Athletics is committed to creating the consummate student-athlete experience at every level academically, academically and in the community, said Damon Evans, the Barry P. Gossett Director of Athletics. The Gossett Fellows program offers our student-athletes an innovative way to pursue their goals and aspirations so they can achieve success in their future careers. This approach to student-athlete development helps us recruit and retain the best student-athletes who will become leaders beyond their athletic careers.

The Gossett Fellows Program focuses on developing student-athletes beyond their sports. Student-athletes will learn and utilize project management skills regardless of their career paths to ensure they can present relevant career information and practice bringing their thoughts to life.

Twenty-one student-athletes in the Class of 2026 make up this academic year’s new Gossett Fellows cohort.

Junior lacrosse student-athlete Eliot Dubick shared his reason for joining the Gossett Fellows program. He’s studying marketing and recently interned at American University’s marketing department.

“The motivating factors that led to me joining Gossett Fellows was the opportunity to develop my skills for the future, such as leadership development, career development and the opportunity to learn more about life after college,” Dubick said. “Also, any activity through Maryland Made is a chance to meet new friends and create connections after college.”
