Arsenal have rejected a bid for winger Leandro Trossard from Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, according to reports.

The Premier League summer transfer window came to a firm halt on August 30 as Raheem Sterling’s move to north London and Jadon Sancho’s switch to Chelsea ruled the headlines on deadline day. However, clubs in other areas of the world still have time to entice players over, with the Saudi Pro League’s window set to shut on September 2.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Monday that Al Ittihad had submitted an offer for Belgian star Trossard in a bid to steal him away from Arsenal. Al Ittihad, who lured Moussa Diaby over from Aston Villa this summer, also house the likes of Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.

However, The Athletic state that Arsenal have already rejected the “informal proposal” for the player, with the Saudi Pro League side keen on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy next summer for €20-25m.

It is claimed that the club are not willing to part ways with their trusted winger just yet and believe he is vital for the remainder of the season.

Trossard, who was given his first start of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, began wins over Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers from the bench.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta had previously revealed Trossard’s frustration after not featuring in the coach’s starting XI, admitting that the team have a lot of depth in the left wing position.

The Belgian star was an influential character in Arsenal’s 2023/24 campaign – making 46 appearances and registering 17 goals as the Gunners attempted to steal the coveted Premier League title from Manchester City. He opened the scoreline in his side’s win over Villa on August 24 and is expected to be a key figure in the dressing room this season.

Arsenal’s deadline day move for Chelsea’s Sterling added even more competition to the left wing role, while Reiss Nelson made the switch to Fulham on the same day.

The Gunners are set to face rivals Tottenham Hotspur after the international break in the first north London derby of the season.
