BATON ROUGE, La. – Sun Devil Soccer took advantage of the limited opportunities they created to secure a 5-2 win at LSU on Sunday night at LSU Soccer Stadium.
Arizona State (2-0-2) was held to just six shots on goal in the game, but they scored on four while also picking up an own goal. LSU (1-1) finished the game with a 23-11 edge in total shots, with the home side putting 10 chances on target.
Trailing 1-0 as LSU scored on a corner kick in the third minute, the Sun Devils answered in the fourth minute when Cameron Valladares finished on a feed from Enasia Colon.
After the Tigers went back in front on a free kick in the 18th minute, Valladares again found herself in the action as her attempted cross took a deflection off an LSU defender and glanced under the keeper’s legs to tie the game at 2-2 an open a stretch of four straight goals by the Sun Devils.
Valladares scored her second goal of the night – and third of the season – in the 53rd minute. Kierra Blundell played a ball through the defense for a streaking Valladares to run onto, and with a couple of touches, she finished past a charging keeper for the lead.
