Soccer to Face No. 23 Saint Louis on Sunday

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri soccer returns to Walton Stadium to host No. 23 Saint Louis at 7 p.m. on Sunday. The contest is available to be streamed live on SECN+.

The Tigers battled Illinois to a 1-1 draw Thursday night. A 79th-minute goal by Milena Fischer leveled the scoring.

Fischer leads Mizzou with two goals in the young season.

Sunday will mark the first meeting between the two in-state programs since Sept. 15, 1998. The teams have faced just three times overall.

The Tigers’ freshmen class is making an early impact this year as first-year player Landis Canada has started all contests while Emily Derucki has totaled 135 minutes appearing in each game this season.

Redshirt junior goalkeeper Bella Hollenbach has made 16 consecutive starts dating back to last year. Hollenbach has tallied nine saves this season.

Saint Louis is 0-0-2 on the season after a pair of draws against Kansas City and No. 4 BYU.

Head coach Katie Shields is in her 12th year at the helm of the program with a 153-59-18 overall record.

The Billikens finished last season with a 19-3-2 record including a 9-0-1 mark against Atlantic 10 opponents. Saint Louis claimed the A-10 Tournament title and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Penn State.

The Billikens are led by Preseason A-10 senior forward Emily Gaebe who led the program with 16 goals a season ago. Gaebe scored the team’s lone goal of the 2024 season against BYU.

The Tigers are facing their second-ranked program of the season after taking on No. 10 Memphis last week. Mizzou’s last win against a Top 25 team came last year with a 1-0 victory over Auburn on Sept. 16.

Admission to all home contests during the 2024 season is free.
