Maryland Ends Three-Game Home Stand Against James Madison on Sunday

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland closes out its three-game home stand as it hosts James Madison. The two teams met last season in Harrisonburg, with the game ending in a 2-2 draw.

The game will air on B1G+.

The Terrapins are coming off a 2-0 home loss at the hands of American on Aug. 22. After a stalemate in the first half, American would take the lead 58th minute on a deflected ball in the box, and then answered again four minutes later with another goal. Liz Beardsley supported the Terps in goal once again, making four saves in the match. 

Series History – James Madison

  • The Terrapins and the Dukes have met 19 times in the all-series, with the Terps holding the advantage with a 10-6-3 record. The two teams met during the 2023 season, with the game ending in a 2-2 draw.
  • The Terps got a pair of goals from Lisa McIntyre, the first of which was the first in her collegiate career. James Madison scored two goals late in the second half to even the game.
Lisa McIntyre scored a brace in last season’s match-up with James Madison. The first goal McIntyre scored in the game was also her first goal of her college career.

Season-Opening Success

  •  In Maryland’s 2-0 win over Lehigh, the Terps extended their unbeaten streak in season openers to eight. In those eight games, the Terps have a record of 5-0-3.
  • Dating back to the 1995 season, the Terps are 21-4-5 in season opening games. The streak started on Sept. 3, 1995 with a 6-0 win for Maryland over Virginia Tech in College Park. In season openers away from home, The Terps are 9-3-2 dating back to 1995.
  • With its 2-2 draw against Stony Brook on Sunday, Maryland extended its unbeaten streak in home opening games to  eight. The streak began on Aug. 18, 2017 with a 2-1 win over Drexel. In these eight home openers, the Terps have a record of 4-0-4.

The Terps extended their unbeaten streak in season-openers to eight consecutive games. In their last eight season openers, the Terps hold a record of 5-0-3.
