Men’s Soccer Wins Season Opener at Niagara

Short Story: The University at Albany men’s soccer team used some magic in the final minutes of Thursday’s match to walk away with a 3-2 victory over Niagara University. After Niagara tied the game in the 84th minute, an own goal put the Great Danes back ahead with just 1:30 on the clock.

How it Happened:

  • The Great Danes wasted no time getting on the scoreboard with Pedro Lucas finding the back of the net in the third minute following a nice feed from Timo Jansen.
  • Niagara tied the game in the 16th minute. Felix Kogler was able to send home a shot after Dominic Cintra pulled the UAlbany defenders and goalkeeper away, leaving an empty net.
  • Ander Castillo nearly put the Great Danes up 2-1 in the 30th minute, but Niagara’s Jamie Barry made a diving save.
