Man Utd, PSG talks intensify, official soon

Ugarte, Rabiot links played down

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly both intensified talks over the transfer of Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The 23-year-old hasn’t quite made the desired impact at PSG in his single season at the club, and it now looks like he’s closer to leaving for Man Utd, with the clubs said to be working to be able to make this deal official in the coming days, according to a report from Todo Fichajes.

Ugarte looks like he could be an ideal fit for the Red Devils as they surely need a long-term replacement for the ageing Casemiro, as well as for unconvincing loan signing Sofyan Amrabat, who now surely seems like he’s not returning to Old Trafford.

Writing in his Daily Briefing column earlier today, Fabrizio Romano made it clear just how much Ugarte has been United’s top target in that defensive midfield role this summer.

Ugarte transfer: Man United look set to land their top target

Discussing the Ugarte to MUFC situation, Romano said: “Manuel Ugarte is their top target in midfield and the full focus is on that deal. Man United remain optimistic on Ugarte and they are working on that deal, it could be a loan with obligation from Paris Saint-Germain.

“So, it’s progressing well and Ugarte wants to go to Manchester United, he has an agreement and is pushing like crazy to get his move to Old Trafford.”

United fans will no doubt be pleased to hear this further update from Todo Fichajes, which suggests everything is going to plan, and it might be that they don’t have to wait too much longer now for this signing to be announced.

Erik ten Hag’s squad has also been strengthened with the signings of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Joshua Zirkzee this summer, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial have left the club.
