NEWARK, Del. – The No. 21 Hokies recorded their third straight shutout victory with a 1-0 win over Delaware on Thursday night at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.

Taylor Price scored her first goal of the season to become the seventh Hokie scorer this year. It is also the third straight shutout victory for Virginia Tech.

How it Happened
The Hokies tallied several shots in the opening minutes, but the Blue Hens’ defense was able to hold off Tech until the 20th minute. Samantha DeGuzman delivered a beautiful cross to Price just in front of the net to give the Hokies an early 1-0 lead. It was Price’s first goal of the season.

Tech continued to threaten throughout the first half despite not finding the back of the net for a second time. The Hokies outshot Delaware 8-1 in the opening frame.

The Hokie defense continued to shine in the second half. Collectively, the Blue Hens tallied just two shots, with no shots on goal, throughout the contest. It’s the second time this season Tech has held its opponent to two or fewer shots.
