CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – After the league posted a nation-best 22 victories through the first weekend of the regular season, Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer returns on Thursday, August 22, with 14 teams back in action.
The ACC placed a nation-best seven teams in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Poll released on Tuesday, August 20, headlined by Florida State and Stanford remaining at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. North Carolina climbed six spots to No. 5, while Pitt remained at No. 7. Notre Dame moved up one spot to No. 14 and Virginia and Virginia Tech made their first appearances in this year’s poll, tying at No. 21. Wake Forest and Clemson are currently receiving votes.
After the opening weekend, two ACC schools are in the top five nationally in total goals scored, as FSU leads the way with 15, while Louisville is tied for fourth with 10. Last Sunday, the Seminoles became the first ACC team to tally double-figure goals in a single match since 2013 in a 10-0 win over North Florida. FSU’s Taylor Huff, who was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week, tallied a hat trick and an assist in the match and currently leads the nation in total points with 10.
Thursday begins ACC Network’s live coverage for the 2024-25 season, as Florida State hosts Rice for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff. The Seminoles are currently on a 25-match winning streak, their longest in program history.
