Soccer set for Road Contest at Illinois


COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri soccer travels for the first time this season to face Illinois at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday. The contest will air on B1G+

The Tigers enter the game 1-1 after falling to No. 10 Memphis on Sunday.

Junior forward Kylee Simmons led Mizzou’s offensive effort with three shots including one on goal.

On Thursday, the Tigers defeated Missouri State in the season opener as Milena Fischer and Keegan Good scored goals to help claim the victory.

Freshman Landis Canada has started both contests to begin the year while freshman Emily Derucki has made appearances in both contests combining for 91 minutes.

Redshirt junior goalkeeper Bella Hollenbach has played both games in the net this season and has made 15 consecutive starts dating back to last year. Hollenbach has tallied six saves this season.

Thursday will mark the 15th meeting between the programs with Missouri holding a 7-5-2 series advantage, including a 3-2 mark away from home.

Illinois is 2-0 on the year following wins over Wright State and DePaul. The Illini finished the 2023 season with a 6-8-3 overall record and a 2-6-2 mark against conference opponents.

Janet Rayfield is in her 23rd season on the sidelines for the Blue and Orange with a 228-175 record.

Junior midfielder Lia Howard headlines the Illini roster as she led the team with five goals and four assists a season ago. On Sunday, she netted her first goal of the year against DePaul.
