Liverpool eyeing Man United target

Rabiot wanted but Bayern wait in the wings

Liverpool reportedly look to have been handed a significant transfer boost as they’re eyeing up free agent Adrien Rabiot, while their rivals Manchester United now look to have cooled their interest in him.

Rabiot is yet to find a new club after leaving Juventus at the end of his contract this summer, and it remains to be seen where he’ll end up next, with there seemingly being a few options for him, but nothing in place just yet.

Liverpool seem to be seriously considering Rabiot, according to L’Equipe, but Man Utd have dropped out of the race, while Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are mentioned as other possibilities for the France international.

Rabiot has had a fine career at top clubs like Juve and PSG, and it would surely make sense for him to earn himself another big move now, even if he’s not getting any younger.

Liverpool are arguably in need of a midfielder like that after some inconsistent form from the likes of Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch, while Thiago Alcantara left the club and retired at the end of last season.

Liverpool usually tend to sign younger players, but they will make the occasional exception, and Rabiot could be a player worth being a little bit more flexible for.

The 29-year-old looks like he could have what it takes to shine in the Premier League, and one imagines he would surely have made a decent addition for United as well, though their priorities seem to lie elsewhere.

As explained by Fabrizio Romano in his Daily Briefing column earlier today, the Red Devils have made PSG’s Manuel Ugarte their top target in midfield, and it could be that they’ll finally reach an agreement on a loan deal with the obligation to buy at the end of it.
