Manchester United started their 2024/25 Premier League season in the best possible way, thanks to a winner against Fulham from new signing, Joshua Zirkzee.
The Dutch striker is one of a handful of signings that the club has already made this summer, and with the business end of the transfer window coming ever closer, the United hierarchy need to get busy if they want to land anyone else.
A tough away trip at Brighton and Hove Albion is next up for Erik ten Hag’s men, followed by an epic battle against Liverpool at Old Trafford the week after.
Manchester United still chasing Ugarte
Clearly, therefore, time is of the essence in terms of transfer deals.
One player that the North West giants are believed to have been tracking for some time is Paris Saint-Germain’s excellent midfielder, Manuel Ugarte.
The Uruguayan, 23, has been pushing to join the club since July according to a post on X from CaughtOffside columnist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano.
?? Understand Manchester United are working on loan with obligation to buy proposal for Manuel Ugarte.
Negotiations to continue with this formula as Jorge Mendes’s leading talks with Paris Saint-Germain.

Romano also states that discussions are continuing for the player after Man United presented a loan to buy proposal.
It’s abundantly clear, therefore, that United want the combative and defensively-minded Ugarte in at Old Trafford as quickly as practicable.
Unless ten Hag then decides to play a system that requires a double pivot, Casemiro is likely to be relegated to the subs bench.
The knowledge that he could be second choice for the club may well also force the Brazilian’s hand, and it will be interesting to see if previous rumoured interest from the Saudi Pro League materialises again.
In any event, United’s full focus appears to be on getting Ugarte through the door, and the next couple of weeks will see whether they’re successful or not.
