Lema For Three
Karlie Lema couldn’t ask for a better start to her senior season after scoring three goals during opening week. After falling behind UCSD 1-0 in the season opener, Lema scored both the equalizer and the game winner in the second half to earn her second career brace. With her team down 2-0 on the road at then-No. 22 Santa Clara she added her third goal via a penalty kick in the 84th minute that kept the Bears’ chances alive. She is one goal away from tying her season total from last year.

Second-Half Surge
Over its first two matches Cal did all its scoring in the second half and has yet to allow a goal during that period. Playing from behind in both matches the Bears outshot their opponents 11-6 in the final 45 minutes and netted three goals. Cal allowed three first half goals but none of them were scored in the run of the play.
