Lukaku transfer to Napoli edging closer says Romano

Chelsea have received an official bid from Napoli for Romelu Lukaku as a transfer deal finally looks closer to completion.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano via the Daily Briefing, with the Italian journalist issuing a major update on Lukaku’s future, with the Blues finally looking set to make this important sale.

Romano has once again made it clear that this deal is separate from anything involving Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, but it does seem like an important development for Chelsea as they need to make sales to go along with their many signings in what has been another busy summer.

Napoli will no doubt be keen to have Lukaku on board as soon as possible, with the Belgium international doing well in Serie A in recent years during spells with Inter Milan and Roma.

Lukaku has also played particularly well under Antonio Conte in the past, so it could be mutually beneficial for them as they look set to be reunited at Napoli.

Lukaku transfer update from Fabrizio Romano

Discussing the latest on Lukaku’s departure from Chelsea, Romano said: “The exit of Romelu Lukaku is getting closer for Chelsea. They always wanted to sell the player in a separate story from Victor Osimhen, so it’s not going to be a swap deal and Chelsea’s full focus is on selling Lukaku this week.

Romelu Lukaku to Napoli is edging closer

“Now the deal between Chelsea and Napoli is getting closer – Napoli have presented an official bid to Chelsea, the negotiations are advancing, while Lukaku already has an agreement with Napoli on a three-year contract.

“Antonio Conte is waiting for Lukaku as Napoli need an offensive player. They are working hard to get the deal done, there is still some work to do, but this week more contacts will take place between Napoli and Chelsea for Lukaku.

“It could be an important one for Chelsea as it would be a permanent transfer, and it’s expected to come in the advancing days.”
